SHARPSHARP (activities) Laboratory-Performance

in collaboration with Carlos Pez

SHARPSHARP (activities) consist of a number of interactive public and social choreographies that explore architecture, landscape, institutions, and people working there, performers and invited audience. It is a continuous renegotiation of the actual state of performance in its relation with social events and it aims to examine our everyday relation to the environment. It is an invitation to change the perspective on habits of ordinary life. It could be a party, a barbecue, guiding tours, installations, happenings, dance and theatre work, street art, and poetry…

Between

Created by Sello Pesa and Vaughn Sadie; facilitated by Peter Molefe and Sibongile Bhebhe

Directed by Vaughn Sadie and Sello Pesa, Between is a performance project that explores the value of practice- led research in the creation of theatrical work particularly for the DFL Sex Actually Festival. Between explores the areas of Jeppestown and City Suburban to see the narratives and stories they hold. The series of site- specific performances takes into account the spatial and social complexities that make up the area. The project presents smaller and often unseen/unheard narratives in the context of the everyday and investigates the themes of relationship, intimacy, disease and sex that are lived and experienced daily.

Sello Pesa in Addis Abeba

During 2011 and 2012 Sello Pesa spent an extended period in Ethiopia’s capital at the invitation of the Goethe Institut -Addis Abeba.

He was invited to Ethiopia to work closely with Mintesinot Getachew, Junaid Jemal Sendi and a group of Ethiopian performers in the creation of a site specific performance which was successfully presented in and around the Goethe Institut on the 26th of April 2011.

The performance was a culmination of a working relationship that saw Sello travelling to Ethiopia on several times to conduct workshops and participate in the creation of the work.
