Ntsoana Contemporary Dance Theatre (Ntsoana) is a Contemporary Dance based organisation committed to exploring the diverse and evolving South African cultures through the medium of contemporary dance and its relationship to other art disciplines.

Through performances and cultural exchange, Ntsoana aims to promote the necissessity and importance of cultural heritage in modern society, both nationally and internationally.

Ntsoana is interested in the changes and challenges that arise from living in South Africa and aims to express these experiences through the medium of dance and performing arts.

Ntsoana's Artistic Director, Sello Pesa, spent four years researching and collaborating with other choreographers on the similar aspects of dance in the Southern Hemisphere and Indian Ocean Countries. He returned to South Africa in 2005 to re-establish his cultural roots and explore the ongoing changes in the country as an independent artist and choreographer. Coming from the background of growing up in Soweto with limited opportunities and infrastructures, Sello realises how important it is grow and nurture dancers from the community.

Through performances and cultural exchange overseas, Sello has acted as an ambassador for Ntsoana and South Africa . In 2006 he travelled to Russia to participate in the Small World Festival which highlighted the lack of tolerance in international relations, xenophobia, racism and social injustice.

Through the Training and Development programme, Ntsoana aims to develop the skills of young adults in order to help them become employable, rounded artists who have internationally competitive standards of performance, movement analysis and choreographic skills that in turn will benefit South African Contemporary Dance.
